Bell to Cooyar

The roads on this section of the route are a mixture of bitumen and gravel and once again you should experience minimal traffic. From Bell there are no towns, so carry plenty of water and food. Phone reception can be patchy at times in this section. As you make your way out of Bell and into farmland you will have the Bunya Mountains to the North. The route winds its way through the foothills of the Bunyas heading toward Cooyar.

At around the 28km mark, there is a picnic area on your left with toilets and shade. Once leaving the picnic area your next turn will be Bunya Mountains Maclagan Rd. From here the route is largely gravel. Turning left on Cooyar Rangemore Road the route continues through cattle farms and the major climb of the route which starts around the 36km mark. From the top of the climb, it is largely a downhill run into Cooyar, crossing numerous creeks with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside.
