Seven TRBUG riders set out this morning to experience a new route that none had ridden entirely before. Starting at Kulpi, the group headed to the pretty, elevated hamlet of Haden. The charming old general store/post office even serves coffee.

After a short stop for refreshments the group continued to the high point in the circuit with its commanding view over the countryside. This route utilises many kilometres of the Downs Burnett Cycle Trail. For the first 54km the group encountered a total of two cars and one farm truck. The final 9km back in to Kulpi was on flat bitumen.

The entire route was nearly two thirds gravel with close to 1 km of elevation gain. A little bit of range anxiety crept in with three e-bikes just finishing with a trickle of charge left in their batteries.

The Kulpi Hotel is on the DBCT and owners Mick and Michelle are keen supporters of touring cyclists and convivial hosts offering good pub food, cold beverages and good coffee. A perfect way to finish a great ride.
